Mel McGerr BSc, MSc, FCIAT, MRIAI (Irl)

Mel McGerr is a Registered Architect, a Member of the RIAI, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists. With over 20 years of experience, he has led the design of complex projects in Residential, Commercial, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Hospitality, and Hotel sectors.

A Director since 2012, Mel has played a key role in the development of the practice over the past five years, culminating in the transition from MMA Architects to Adamson McGerr Architects.

Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in delivering high quality projects, working with clients such as Analog Devices, Stryker and more. Mel was the lead Architect for the award-winning Irish Life Sciences building in Athlone, which received an International Design Award for Technical Excellence in 2023. In addition to his professional practice, Mel has contributed to architectural education as a part-time Lecturer at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), focusing on Information Management and BIM in infrastructure.

Blair Adamson | BScArch Barch MRIAI. Director

Blair Adamson, a distinguished architect and creative leader, earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1999. With over 25 years of experience, he is a RIAI-registered architect and holds an additional qualification in Conservation, bringing a deep appreciation for both heritage and contemporary design. As a founding director of Adamson McGerr Architects and the firm’s Creative Director, Blair is dedicated to shaping innovative, sustainable, and timeless architectural solutions. His expertise and visionary approach drive the firm’s commitment to excellence, ensuring every project seamlessly blends aesthetics, functionality, and lasting impact.

Nhu Tao | BArch
Architectural Graduate

Nhu Tao started working for Adamson McGerr Architects in 2024. With a passion for design, She specializes in developing creative design concepts and assisting in planning applications for a wide range of projects, from residential dwellings to large-scale commercial and industrial sites. She is an Architectural Graduate with a Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) degree from Technological University Dublin (TUD).

Paul Mee | Bsc (Hons) Arch Tech.

Paul Mee is an Architectural Technologist at Adamson McGerr Architects. Paul has built his career over the past five years since graduating from GMIT Galway. He is proud to have contributed to an award-winning team, which was most recently recognized in 2023 with the Award for Technical Excellence in Architectural Technology working with Irish life sciences to produce a state of the art Manufacturing and office facility. Paul is currently involved in multiple large-scale projects within the residential and educational sectors, set to be completed this year. These experiences have deepened his understanding of the complexities inherent in modern architectural challenges, while continually pushing the boundaries of sustainable and efficient design.

Magda Kaminska

Magda Kaminska is a Master of Engineering in Architecture with over 5 years of professional experience in Poland and Ireland. During her studies at the Lublin University of Technology, she participated in numerous architectural competitions, which allowed her to develop her creativity and ability to create innovative design solutions.
In Poland, she worked primarily on high-standard single-family homes and public utility buildings. Always focused on balancing aesthetics with functionality, she prioritizes the needs of residents and users in her designs. 
At Adamson McGerr Architects, she continues to shape her career, creating spaces that meet the specific needs of people while integrating seamlessly with their surroundings.
For Magda, architecture is a process aimed at enhancing the quality of life by designing spaces that are both practical and inspiring. 

David McGourty | Technical Director

With over two decades of experience in architectural technology and project coordination, David McGourty is a seasoned professional dedicated to delivering innovative and high-quality architectural solutions. As Technical Director at Adamson McGerr, David plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of projects, from concept to completion.

David’s expertise spans a wide range of architectural disciplines, including fire safety, structural coordination, and project management. His meticulous attention to detail and ability to integrate diverse technical elements into cohesive designs make him a key asset in the field. He is responsible for attending and leading client, design, and technical meetings, ensuring that all aspects of a project align with industry standards and client expectations.

Holding a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology from Limerick Institute of Technology and multiple postgraduate qualifications—including a Postgraduate Diploma in Design Management and a Postgraduate Certificate in Fire Safety—David has consistently pursued excellence and continuous learning. As a Chartered Architectural Technologist (MCIAT), he upholds the highest standards of professional practice.

Throughout his career, David has contributed to a wide array of projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers, fire consultants, and landscape architects. His experience includes roles as a Senior Site Architectural Coordinator, Site Foreman, and Architectural Technologist, giving him a well-rounded perspective on both design and construction processes.

David’s hands-on approach, technical proficiency, and leadership skills ensure that every project he undertakes meets the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and design integrity. Whether overseeing large-scale developments or coordinating intricate architectural details, he remains dedicated to shaping the built environment with precision and innovation.

Artur Cwieka

Artur is a Master of Architecture, a graduate of Lublin University of Technology. With experience in designing various types of buildings, but also arranging commercial spaces, he approaches each project with a balance of creativity, functionality, and technical precision. 
As a certified Revit user and passionate exponent of BIM technology, he integrates digital workflows into the design process to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration. His goal is to create spaces that are both innovative and deeply connected to their surroundings, reflecting the unique character and needs of each project.

Aine (Gallagher) Keenaghan | BSc, BA (Hons)

Aine Gallagher is an Architectural Technologist, Part 1 Architect and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.  With over 13 years of experience in the Architecture industry Aine is as Senior Architectural Technologist at Adamson McGerr Architects. She brings a wealth of expertise in Residential, Healthcare, Educational and Modular Construction.

Prior to joining Adamson McGerr Architects in 2018 Aine worked as a Design Lead and Bim Coordinator over large Healthcare and Educational developments within Ireland and the UK.

She holds an Architectural Technology degree from ATU Galway, a BA Hons in Architecture from University of Ulster and a Post Grad in Engineering in Energy Management. She is committed to ongoing learning and professional development.

Aileen Lally | Office Administrator

Aileen joined Adamson McGerr in 2024 as our Office Administrator. Aileen has 20 years administrative/ document control experience. She has considerable experience in the construction industry working with the Sisk Group on the Center Parc’s Project and also with Kirby Group Engineering  on the Alexion Pharmaceuticals Site. Aileen supports the Directors , manages records, and  coordinates procedures. Aileen plays a key role in ensuring that the office runs  smoothly.

Urban Soup Collaboration

Since 2024, Adamson McGerr Architects have been collaborating with UrbanSoup Architects in South Africa. Though new, this relationship has been built over a 20 year period from when Directors, Mel & David, first worked with Ray Harli MRIAI when he was based in Ireland. Ray spent many years here working at Thompson & Partners and the OPW before working at Arups in London. Upon his return to South Africa he co-founded the hugely successful Urbansoup Architects & Urban Planners. Together we have developed a team working closely on multiple projects.
