Student Housing Athlone

The proposed development consists of a high-quality student housing  scheme of 91 residential units which have been grouped into 26 apartments. The scheme is conceived as an extension and completion of an existing and established student housing development and is made up of 5 new apartment blocks. The residential scheme included single rooms with study and integrated en-suites in minimum groups of 3 and 4 with shared communal living areas. The scheme centres around a secure and private courtyard which provide the apartments with a shared focus and amenity. Pedestrian and bicycle links are given hierarchy with parking limited to the rear. The scheme is also concerned with the existing urban context which resulted in a stepped approach to the urban massing and incorporates a revitalisation of the existing buildings on the site which are to be retained.
